Does Character Matter? Reprise

Oct 20, 2010 in Political Blender by Errick Calloway

I wrote this column a long time ago. With the election only weeks away, I thought it would be a good idea to re-release it. I hope you enjoy it: Thomas Jefferson is the writer of the Declaration of Independence, co-author of the Constitution, and third President of the United States. Was he also the [...]

Fair Tax

Taxes… good, bad & ugly

Oct 4, 2010 in Political Blender by Errick Calloway

The good: The Fair Tax is a national retail sales tax that replaces our progressive tax system. Current income tax is collected (at the point of a gun) at a rate of approximately 23 percent of net income. The Fair Tax would totally eliminate withholding and individuals would only be taxed when they purchase goods [...]

Media Bias

Media Bias

Sep 27, 2010 in Political Blender by Errick Calloway

Even before I started writing this column I was a big political geek. My career puts me behind the steering wheel a lot, so when I rent cars after a flight I always look forward to satellite radio and its many varieties of talk radio entertainment. Being a Conservative, I immediately tune into the most [...]

The stimulus

Still Waiting…

Sep 14, 2010 in Political Blender by Errick Calloway

The Stimulus (aka The Recovery and Reinvestment Act) was supposed to keep unemployment under 8 percent. It did not do that. The Stimulus was supposed to help the private sector have the ability to start hiring again. It did not do that. The Stimulus was supposed to get the real estate market back on its [...]

RINO

Beware of “RINOs”

Sep 3, 2010 in Political Blender by Errick Calloway

“Republicans In Name Only” are somewhat of a new phenomenon in politics. They are closet Liberals that campaign as Conservatives in order to get more right wingers to vote for them. Ultimately it is usually Independents that make the difference, but that is not the point of this week’s column. In January of 2010, Scott [...]

Losertarians

Loser-tarian?

Aug 21, 2010 in Political Blender by Errick Calloway

The Libertarian Party took the country by storm in the late 90s when Harry Browne announced he was running for president four years after Ross Perot took half of the votes away from George H.W. Bush, making it easy for Bill Clinton to become our 42nd president. Third party after third party have tried and [...]

Poor me

My Brother’s Keeper?

Aug 4, 2010 in Political Blender by Errick Calloway

Being that I am a fairly hard core fiscal conservative, I am routinely asked: “Why do you want to let people die in the streets”? “Why don’t you care about the less fortunate”? “Why do you hate the poor so much”? Blah, blah… and blah. The left likes to use emotion in a sad attempt [...]

Tax Cut

Tax Cuts … duh!

Jul 21, 2010 in Political Blender by Errick Calloway

Anyone who has ever run a small business knows that unless you can start it with cash you are probably going to be in the red for some time. So what makes a business grow? How do mom and pop become Microsoft? Elbow grease? Sure. Low overhead? Yep. But this is a political column, so [...]

About Errick Calloway

Errick's love of country was put to the test at an early age. Three days after his 18th birthday; he joined the Army. Desert Storm was 12 days old. Errick began basic training on August 20, 1991 as an 11B (Infantryman).

With a very competitive nature and strong athletic background; Errick knew that if he was going to do this he was going to be the best. On December 13, 1991 he graduated Airborne School and began the Ranger Indoctrination Program (RIP). Two days before his 19th birthday, Errick was an Army Ranger stationed at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, GA. After several successful missions and a promotion, Errick suffered and unfortunate hip injury during a night parachute mission. With only 21 "jumps", Errick was no longer allowed to parachute and he was transferred to Ft. Stewart, GA. He found a home in military intelligence and was trained in counter intelligence; specializing in battlefield deception and comsec monitoring (eaves dropping) for two years.

Small town up bringing and blue color roots made Errick a conservative early on in life. The military taught Errick that if you want something you have to take it. His love of politics and willingness to teach is what keeps him focused in both his personal and professional life.

Fast forward 20 years... Errick has worked his way through the ranks of loss prevention and is now a retail theft/ fraud investigator specializing in employee theft interrogations. His core belief in the capitalist system and the small businessman as the backbone of our society; Errick has great respect for "the little guy", and routinely offers his services as a loss prevention/ security consultant.
